Virtue Cider was founded in 2011. It would expand to Virtue Cider Farm, a 48-acre sustainable working farm where their cider would be made onsite. The farm has been recognized and awarded for its sustainability and environmental standards, including being recognized by the state as an MEAEP certified farm. Virtue Cider uses very little water or energy (they do not heat or cool their cider houses), and they are on their way to being majority solar powered.  The farm is also home to heritage breed animals, like their Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs. These are traditional orchard pigs who were part of the cycle from soil to cider in England. According to orchard folklore, their spots are said to be bruises caused by apples falling from the trees in the orchards where the pigs grazed.
