Bring Solar to Homeboy Industries

Bring solar to Homeboy Industries and help amplify Homeboy Industries' efforts to increase opportunities for at-risk youth in Los Angeles by putting solar power on their rooftop.

By giving a solar energy system to Homeboy Industries, we direct funds previously needed to pay for electricity costs toward providing job-training, education and mental health services: reducing reincarceration while also addressing climate change!

This project is fully funded and installed! See pics here.

Alternative Rock for Alternative Energy: Join Everybody Solar, the Sierra Club, Grid Alternatives and the band Trapdoor Social in bringing a solar energy system to LA non-profit Homeboy Industries! Put sustainability in action through this joint campaign and also get Trapdoor Social's new album and other great gifts such as a custom Everybody Solar T-shirt signed by the band.

Homeboy Industries, which was founded in Los Angeles by Father Greg Boyle, serves high-risk, formerly gang-involved men and women with a continuum of free services and programs and operates seven social enterprises that serve as job-training sites. Homeboy Industries covers tuition and supply costs for its clients who wish to enroll in the Photovoltaic Training program at East Los Angeles Skills Center. Homeboy also offers additional tutoring to help students pass a national credentialing test that makes its clients competitive candidates for employment in the green industry.

"We are grateful to be the beneficiaries. With the installation of the solar panels at Homeboy Industries, we reduce our energy costs, promote Homeboy’s Solar Panel Installation Training and Certification Program, and the hope is we get more people involved in our training program,  completing the courses, passing the national test and eventually working in the solar panel installation industry." - Father Greg Boyle, Founder and Executive Director of Homeboy Industries.

We just celebrated the installation on December 14, 2018. Read about it here.
