Niagara County CCE is a nonprofit organization in Lockport, NY, dedicated to improving the quality of life for local residents through educational programs and community services. It focuses on agriculture, environmental sustainability, nutrition, youth development, and economic growth. CCE provides resources and support to farmers, families, and community members, helping them make informed decisions and adopt best practices in various fields.

Their mission is to put knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability and social well-being. They bring local experience and research based solutions together, helping New York State families and communities thrive in the rapidly changing world.

Project Overview:

Since 1913, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County (CCE-Niagara) has responded to the needs of local residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools and education that people have come to depend on and trust. Their programs are developed in direct response to community input, and are based on the most current information available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities from across the nation.

Having Solar at Niagara County CCE  will not only reduce its electricity expenses year over year, but it will be a showcase for their clean energy educational programming within their Natural Resources & Environment department.

The planned 65,10 kW solar array will generate 77,546  kWh of electricity annually - avoiding 119,431 CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

A reduction in energy costs will be reinvested in to the organization to promote heir educational mission. Meaning that, they will have more resources available to increase educational offerings, secure supplies, and support our staffs professional development.

 

"We will be active in the fundraising campaign to build awareness of the project. Second, as previously mentioned we will use this project as a teaching instrument in our clean energy curricula to educate 4-H youth and adults. ", says Justin Roger, executive director at Niagara County CCE
